Robert Jaarsma Nice reading about the DC-3, PH- ALW the "Wielewaal". I am sure my granddad (Gerard Alsem) also flew this airplane as KLM flight engineer. He was with KLM from 1929. When the war broke out in Holland they were with a DC-3 at Batavia and they flew back to England instead. From there they flew the line Bristol-Lisbon. Mon, Mar 24, 2008 10:04 am 49

Thomas Poederbach Researching information about Capt. Ivan Smirnof I accidentally landed on your website. I was intreagd by the fact that a number of KNIL aircraft flew under the Sydney Harbour Bridge. I was looking to find the names of the crews. Maybe Smirnoff was involved. He flew one of the 10 aicraft that took off but he did not fly under the bridge. But I found the names of cource and read the remarkable stories of mr Dijkstra and Mr Gijtemijter.
