F-4 Lightning 41-2123 Fainting Floozie II under camouflage netting probably at Townsville, in which case it is likely that this image was taken not long after 27 July 1942 when the Squadron moved from Brisbane to Townsville. On the left is Warrant Officer Schrader (8th PRS Tech & Admin) and on the right is pilot First Lieutenant Fred Hargesheimer. Working atop the aircraft is Roland Baker. Hargesheimer went missing over Northern New Britain on 5 June 1943 in an unidentified F-4 but he survived and escaped with the assistance of local natives to be picked up by a submarine. He returned to New Britain after the war and built a school for the natives who had helped him evade capture. That school is still operating today through the benefit of a trust fund.
