F-4 Lightning 41-2125 running up, probably at Stock Route Airfield, Townsville. It is likely that this image was taken not long after 27 July 1942 when the Squadron moved from Brisbane to Townsville. On 13 August 1942, Lt. Paul Staller departed Townsville at 1045 hours in this aircraft for Port Moresby via Horn Island. He departed Horn Island at 1700 hours but failed to arrive in Port Moresby and was subsequently declared missing in action. This was the Squadron's first loss. Photo: Ron Cuskelly Collection
