The Altair is carefully brought ashore from a barge at Allhallows in the Thames Estuary on 7 October 1935. Note the aircraft lifting bridle in the right foreground. Note also that the aircraft is still marked as VH-USB although it was reregistered G-ADUS the same day. Other photos suggest that Smithy is in the dark overcoat underneath the aircraft. It is believed that the gentleman in white under the port wing is Tommy Pethybridge and the gentleman on the plank and closest to the starboard mainwheel is Bob Boulton.
