| Although of poor
quality, this is the only known photograph of the DC-3 as VH-CXL. The photo was
taken between August 1943 and late March 1944 while the DC-3 was serving with
36 Squadron RAAF based at Townsville, Queensland. As the aeroplane is only on
loan to the RAAF, it still carries the USAAF star. Note also the radio call-sign
VH-CXL (with a hyphen) on the fin and rudder. Photo: George Redding |
