Hangars 8 and 9 were demolished during WWII (or possibly immediately after) to permit the extension of Building 39 for RAAF HQ.

During the fifties, Hangars 13, 14 and 15 had to make way for Qantas' Hangar 96, at which time Hangar 13 was relocated to the eastern side of the aerodrome for Adastra's use. This hangar retained the number 13 at the new location.

REVISION 1 (23SEP07):
The hangar occupied by Adastra from 1930 to 1940 was previously identified as Hangar 9. From reference to photographs and the map it is clear that the building occupied by Adastra was Hangar 8. Where this anomaly crept in is uncertain but it was almost certainly the fault of the Webmaster, not the original researcher, Chris O'Neill. I have been unable to locate any reference to Adastra occupying Hangar 9, so all references on this website have been revised to show Adastra's first building as Hangar 8.

REVISION 2 (17DEC07):
It was previously thought that Adastra moved from Hangar 8 to Hangar 15 in 1940 but George Charlwood (who was there at the time) claims that the move took place circa 1946. George reasons that Hangar 15, which was known as the RAAF Hangar, would have been required by the RAAF throughout the war. This page previously recorded that Hangars 8 and 9 were demolished during the war but George's recollections suggest that this may have happened closer to 1946.
