The first Qantas turbo-fan 707-138B VH-EBH City of Darwin on
the day of its delivery to Sydney on 6 August 1961. The aircraft had
flown non-stop from Honolulu in a time of 9 hours 46 minutes. A crowd
estimated at 10,000 later gathered to inspect the aircraft. This view
was taken from the International Terminal and shows Hangar 131 under
construction in the background. In the distant background can be seen
the chimneys of the St. Peters brickworks, long since demolished to
make way for Sydney Park. |
